8 Days Gorillas and Chimps

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe: After your breakfast, you will be transferred to Nyungwe Forest National Park. En-route, you will visit some historical sites on the main road like the Kamegeri’s rock among other. On arrival check into your hotel and freshen up. Late in the afternoon, you will be taken for a tea planation visit.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Overnight: Gisakura Guest House.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking – Nyungwe National Park After your early morning breakfast, we shall drive to the Chimp tracking briefing point. Join a group of other trackers after the briefing. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibuye; Today you will be transferred to a place called Kibuye, visit Napoleon’s hut (sure you want to know why the name) and Amahoro which means “Peace” Islands. Enjoy fresh fish and potatoes on the island, busk, swim, and relax. Overnight: Bethane Hotel. Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park Wake up at leisure and their after you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park, a home to some of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. En-route you will visit the twin lakes. On our arrival, in the afternoon, check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla tracking Gorillas are fascinating to see, they have strength 30 times that of a grown up man, they are huge strong, calm and composed but above all they are endangered and your visit greatly contributes to their awareness of their existence but also their conservation. After an early breakfast, you will report to the gorilla tracking briefing at the park headquarters where you will join other trackers and head for the jungle in search of the gentle giants. The trek may depend on the last location of the gorillas because they are mobile, on finding them, you will be allowed one hour with them, take photos, behold their beauty and later trek back to the headquarters. Tired? You will be transferred your lodge, freshen up, and relax you are on holiday.

Day 6: Banana and Sorghum beer production This is one of the most authentic experience on your Rwanda trip about the cultures of the people of Rwanda. Banana and sorghum are some of our staple food products in Rwanda and they are used in different ways food, local beer/drinks and very important in the cultural practices most especially during our traditional weddings ceremonies, settling of disputes between community members, bonding relationship between different families etc. Rwanda has four common species of banana plants and each species of banana plant has got unique uses and value. Practically, you will learn and understand while in the field. Sorghum production is quite complicated but made simple to experience and really a thrilling experience. You will later be transferred to Gisenyi – Drive around Gisenyi town as we head to Rubona fishing village to experience the lifestyle of fishermen and also watch the hot springs. You will check into your lodge at Parades Ma-lahide Hotel.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali You will be transferred to Kigali -enroute do shopping. Check Caplaki market for more souvenirs. Check into your hotel for the night.

Day 8: DEPART RWANDA: Transfer to the airport and depart Rwanda.
