18 Days mahale, Chimpanzees tracking, game drive and walking safaris

Day 1: Meet and greet, on arrival at the Kigoma airport and transfer to Hotel, full board. 

Day 2: After an early breakfast, transfer by boat to

Mahale Nat Park. This is a two hours ride. On arrival transfer to Lodge followed by game viewing and overnight at full board.

Day 3: After breakfast departure for the chimpanzee tracking. After lunch at the lodge, go fishing on the lake and overnight at Lodge, full board.

Day 4: Full day Chimpanzee tracking and overnight at Lodge, full board.

The Mahale Mountains National Park was gazetted in 1985, covers an area of 1 613 km², world famous for Chimpanzees, stretches out to reach the shores of Lake Tanganyika. There are no roads in the park; all the trails are walking routes. Numerous pathways and tracks allow visitors to enjoy fabulous forest walks, with varied wildlife encounters. The paths are used by warthog and bush pig, and elephant, buffalo, yellow baboons and monkeys favour the northern regions. Chimp trails can be tracked through the forest.

Day 5: Afternoon departure by plane for Katavi Nat. Park and overnight at Aang Mobile Camp, full board. 

Day 6: Full day game drive and overnight at Aang Mobile, Camp, full board.

Day 7: Start the day with a walking safari, Thereafter return to camp for lunch Followed by late afternoon game drive. Overnight at Aang Mobile Camp, full board.

Day 8: Full day to Katvai and overnight at Aang Mobile camp, full board.

Katavi National Park is the most unspoiled and least visited park in Tanzania. The buffalo herds here are regarded to be the biggest in the country. Other animals include zebra, antelope, leopard, crocodile, elephant, lion and hippo. The park is noted for its miombo woodland, vast floodplains an palm fringed Lake Chala and Katuma River. Bird life is particularly rich around this area.


Day 9: Very early morning depart from Katavi Nat. Park to Mbeya. This will be a 8 – 9 hours drive. Arrival in Mbeya will be later afternoon and overnight at Utengule Country Hotel, full board.


Day 10: Free day for relaxation with easy guided tour around this working coffee farm, and overnight at Utengule Country Hotel, full board.


Day 11: Morning visit to Lake Mbozi. After picnic lunch depart back to the Hotel for overnight at Utengule Country Hotel, full board.

Mbeya with an altitude of 1,700 is the capital of southern Tanzania and an incredibly friendly town. Formed in the 1950s during the gold rush, it is the country’s most agricultural region producing coffee, tea, bananas and a variety of other cash crops.. Ngozi Crater Lake is a sight of outstanding natural beauty and a superb hiking location. A green shimmering lake walled by the collapsed caldera of the extinct Ngoni Volcano. The peak of Ngoni is 2,620m and is the highest point of the Poroto Ridge Forest Reserve.

Day 12: The drive to Ruaha Nat. Park will be approximately 6 – 7 hours. On arrival, your game drives begin as you drive through the park to the lodge and overnight at Old Mdonya Camp, full board.

Day 13: Full day game drive and overnight at Old Mdonya Camp full board

Day 14: Accompanied by arranger, you start the day with a walking safari, thereafter followed by a full day game drive. Lunch boxes will be provided and overnight at Old Mdonya Camp, full board.

RUAHA NATIONAL PARK is Tanzania’s biggest park and host to a number of animals which are rare or absent in the North. The rare animals include the African Wild dog, roan and sable antelope and the greater kudu. The Great Ruaha River that provides life to the park, flows through the eastern side of the park and is home to hippos, crocodiles and a variety of water birds.

Day 15: Drive to Mikumi after breakfast. Arrival will be in time for a late afternoon game drive. Overnight at Vuma or Foxes Kopjes Lodge, full board. 

Day 16: Full day game drive and overnight at Vuma or Foxes Kopjes Lodge, full board.

MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK is flanked between the Uluguru and Udzungwa Mountains. Mikumi National Park is home to buffalos, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras and leopards. The park is also famous for its wild dogs and 6m long pythons. 

Day 17: Depart for Dar es Salaam.
